Vitamins vs. Nutritional Supplements: What's the Difference?

"Vitamins" and "supplements" are often used interchangeably, but they're not quite the same. Vitamins are specific nutrients — things like Vitamin A, D, or E — that support particular bodily functions.

Nutritional or dietary supplements are broader: they can include vitamins, minerals, amino acids, or other ingredients meant to round out a pet's diet rather than target one specific nutrient.

Most healthy pets on a complete, balanced diet don't need supplementation to survive — but everyday nutritional support can still be a useful addition, especially for picky eaters, active pets, or specific life stages.

If you're ever unsure what your pet actually needs, that's a conversation worth having with your veterinarian, since needs vary a lot by breed, age, and health history.
